The plans for our first Community Open Day were debated with enthusiasm at our Church Meeting on 17th November. The Open Day is an opportunity for all members of our Church Community to meet and to “showcase” the activities they hold in our church – to each other, to church members and to the public.
The Open Day is being planned and organised by our Lettings Team – Jane Wood and Caroline Sutherland.
To give it a festive fling, church members will man a number of our traditional stalls (a few echoes of Darkes Fayre) and provide tea, coffee, juice and biscuits. We’ve also arranged for some local small enterprises to add their ideas and their wares to the mix.
Opening hours are 11.00 to 15.00, with stall holders coming in at around 10.00 to set up.
There will be a series of demonstration events on the Tilbury Hall stage.
Provisional timings for these are as follows:
11:00 Zumba Class Demonstration
11:30 David’s U3A Dancing Demonstration
12:00 Nick’s Dance School & Rythmix – Chacha, Rumba, Mambo & Waltz
12:30 Angie’ Dance School UK
13:00 Nick’s Dance School & Rythmix – Elite, Junior & Kid’s Latin
13:30 Angie’ Dance School UK
14:00 Nick’s Dance School & Rythmix – Fab Charleston, Git Jive, Fab Jazz
Our regular hirers – Kumon Maths, Zumba, Angie’s Dance School UK, Potters Bar Society and U3A Dancing will have stalls.
We will also have stalls featuring Flamingo Papere (Greeting Cards), Usborne Books, Curly Swirls Bakes, Lucy Barnes Hair Scrunchies, Christmas Hampers, Face Painting, Face Glitter & Bows and the Patient Participation Groups of our three Potters Bar GP Practices combining for Health and Wellbeing.
Our church members will be offering some old favourites – Tombola, Bric à Brac, Joan Gooding’s Gift Stall and “Splat the Rat” – complemented by stalls for our Nursery, our Toddlers Playgroup and Tilbury Lettings (our Lettings Team).
In the Foyer we will have a welcome table with information about our church and information about the Zambian Church we support and are closely associated with.
We are planning a short Closing Service – open to all – in the Church Sanctuary, with some carols and a thanksgiving for the efforts and participation of all those who have come to make the day memorable.
What can you do?
If you are not already “signed up” to take part, please do come to church on the 7th to enjoy the open day, tell all your friends and encourage them to come as well.
Audrey Ward is asking for new items to put on the Tombola Stall and Marion Poulter is after the ‘not quite so new’ (but interesting!) items for her Bric à Brac stall.
Please bring in your contributions to the church before the day so they have time to prepare, price and /or ticket the items.
