Andra Bacila – Piano Recital

What a charming young lady.  We’ve had two amazing male piano soloists for the last two recitals, but Andra gave us another experience. You had to watch as well as listen. Elegant and sinuous, the emotion of the music reflected in her hands and arms and the tilt of the head. Softness and subtlety, eyes at times looking upwards; then intense concentration and focus on the more technical sections.  What a delight to watch and listen to her play for us.

Andra is in her final undergraduate year at The Royal Academy of Music. She spends vacations at home in Romania making music with her friends.

Andra played the Sonata quasi Concerto op 33 no. 3 by Clementi, followed by Liszt’s St Francis of Assisi preaching to the birds, and closed with Ravel’s La Valse (we had concerns for her fingers as she raked the keys from end to end in flourishes)

We’d love to have her come to play for us again.
