Previous Recital – 7 April 2023

Each Year, the Good Friday Choir (drawn from the choirs of churches in and around Potters Bar and local choral groups) goes from strength to strength. This year we sang Fauré’s Requiem, crafted into a Service by Canon Richard Osborn, and conducted by Stephen Jones.

Our soloists were Emily Moring and John-Ellis Wallace and Simon Worley provided the organ accompaniment.

Our audience also goes from strength to strength, filling the  church sanctuary.

When we all sang the Hymns together, it seemed almost as if the roof might fly off.

Stephen Jones commented, “ Well done for an excellent performance of the Fauré last night. The music really came together beautifully and you made a very important contribution to the service ably devised and led by Richard Osborn. Simon worked wonders with the modest resources of our organ at Potters Bar URC, and our young soloists were quite wonderful.

Afterwards we enjoyed the now traditional glass of wine or juice with one (or more) hot cross buns. A good ‘Good Friday’.

Now we have the special Coronation service to look forward to at King Charles the Martyr, and I hope to see many of you there”
